Left-wing federal judges, lawless city mayors, anarchist city councils, Marxist activists and nearly every member of the Democratic Party have tried to thwart President Donald J. Trump’s efforts to keep Americans safer while religiously upholding immigration laws, but to no avail.
The Washington Post became the latest establishment media outlet to grudgingly note that Trump’s enforcement efforts are having a dramatic effect on lawlessness along the U.S.-Mexico border.
But of course, being hard-Left, the Post couldn’t report it as a straight news story. As is always the case with the Trump-hating establishment media, the story is infused with mischaracterizations, insulting innuendo and false depictions of Trump administration figures. For instance, the opening paragraph of the story begins thusly:
In many ways, President Trump’s attempts to implement his hard-line immigration policies have not gone very well in his first three months. His travel ban aimed at some Muslim-majority countries has been blocked by the courts, his U.S.-Mexico border wall has gone nowhere in Congress, and he has retreated, at least for now, on his vow to target illegal immigrants brought here as children.
But one strategy that seems to be working well is fear. The number of migrants, legal and illegal, crossing into the United States has dropped markedly since Trump took office, while recent declines in the number of deportations have been reversed.
There are many purposeful distortions contained in just these two paragraphs. (RELATED: Justice Dept. lawyer botched Trump administration’s defense of the president’s travel ban)
— The Post obviously believes that enforcing all immigration laws is “hard-line,” not within the norm of what presidents – who swear to enforce all laws while upholding all of the Constitution – are supposed to do.
— The phrase “Muslim-majority” has been used repeatedly by the discredited establishment press to pad the fake news narrative that Trump is anti-Muslim. The fact is, the countries named in the pair of executive orders Trump issued had previously been identified by President Obama as being terrorist-sponsoring countries, so the correct, unbiased characterization of Trump’s EO’s is that they targeted terrorist-sponsoring countries, not Muslim-majority countries (considering that the remaining 1 billion or so Muslims living in dozens of other countries were not included in the travel ban.
— The Post – and The New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, et al – routinely leave out the fact that, under U.S. law, the president has the sole authority to decide whether certain people from certain countries can be denied entry into the country, and for whatever reason. Which means, once these cases reach the Supreme Court, they are likely to be overturned.
— The border wall will, at some point, get approved and built. Mexico will pay for it – either by direct remuneration to the U.S. government or via some form of border tax or tax on money sent back to Mexico by immigrants working inside the U.S. Hide and watch.
— The Post’s mention of “fear” is intentional too, because another Left-wing narrative is that Republicans and conservatives sow division and fear among the population, because they’re authoritarian and just plain mean. Never mind that the real “fear” among potential illegal crossers is that they’ll give thousands of dollars to have a human trafficker smuggle them into the U.S., only to be caught and sent packing once more.
The Post went to claim:
Many experts on both sides of the immigration debate attribute at least part of this shift to the use of sharp, unwelcoming rhetoric by Trump and his aides, as well as the administration’s showy use of enforcement raids and public spotlighting of crimes committed by immigrants.
“Sharp, unwelcoming rhetoric?” Of course; it’s “unwelcoming” to enforce your nation’s laws. It’s mean, it’s unfair, it’s not right, it’s racist and bigoted, etc. Never mind that’s a president’s job. (RELATED: Illegal Immigration Isn’t Immigration At All… It’s An INVASION Of Criminals)
The Post and the rest of the discredited fake news establishment media cabal will never give this president any quarter, no matter what he does, so it’s refreshing to see Trump continue to treat them like afterthoughts and second-class citizens – like he did when he abandoned the annual White House Correspondents Dinner last week to be with real Americans at a rally in Pennsylvania.
But it’s instructive to inform readers when they are being lied to and misinformed about important issues of the day. We gladly take that responsibility.
Oh, and for the record, the one thing the Post story did get right: Trump’s “tactic” of enforcing the law (and telling the world we’re finally enforcing the law) has led to a major decline in the number of illegal border crossings.
